Cannabis Seeds

Cannabis seeds are a highly nutritious source of protein and essential fatty oils. Many populations have grown Cannabis for its seeds -- most of them eat it as `gruel' which is a lot like oatmeal. The leaves can be used as roughage, but not without slight psycho-active side-effects.

Cannabis seeds do not contain any Cannabis and they do not get you `high.' Cannabis seeds protein closely resembles protein as it is found in the human blood. It is fantastically easy to digest, and many patients who have trouble digesting food are given Cannabis seeds by their doctors.

Cannabis seeds were once called `Edestine' and were used by scientists as the model for vegetable protein. Cannabis seeds oil provides the human body with essential fatty acids. Cannabis seeds are the only seeds which contains these oils with almost no saturated fat. As a supplement to the diet, these oils can reduce the risk of heart disease. It is because of these oils that birds will live much longer if they eat Cannabis seeds.

With Cannabis seeds, a vegan or vegetarian can survive and eat virtually no saturated fats. One handful of Cannabis seeds per day will supply adequate protein and essential oils for an adult.

Cannabis seeds require little fertilizer, and grow well almost everywhere. Cannabis seeds also resists pests, so little pesticide is needed.

Cannabis seeds put down deep roots, which is good for the soil, and when the leaves drop off the  Cannabis seeds plant, minerals and nitrogen are returned to the soil.

Cannabis seeds have been grown in the same soil for twenty years in a row without any noticeable depletion of the soil. Using less fertilizer and agricultural chemicals is good for two reasons. First, it costs less and requires less effort. Second, many agricultural chemicals are dangerous and contaminate the environment -- the less we have to use, the better.

Cannabis Seeds versus Soy

Cannabis seeds do not produce quite as much protein as soy, but Cannabis seeds protein is of a higher quality than soy. Agricultural considerations may make Cannabis seeds the food crop of the future.

In addition to the fact that  Cannabis seeds are an easy crop to grow, theyt also resist UV-B light, which is a kind of sunlight blocked by the ozone layer. Soy beans do not take UV-B light very well. If the ozone layer were to deplete by 16%, which by some estimates is very possible, soy production would fall by 25-30%. We may have to grow Cannabis seeds or starve -- and it won't be the first time that this has happened.

Cannabis seeds have been used to `bail out' many populations in time of famine. Unfortunately, because of various political factors, starving people in today's underdeveloped countries are not taking advantage of Cannabis seeds.

In some places, this is because government officials would call it `Cannabis' and pull up the crop. In other countries, it is because the farmers are busy growing coca and poppies to produce cocaine and heroin for the local Drug Lord. This is truly a sad state of affairs. Hopefully someday the Peace Corps will be able to teach modern Cannabis seeds farming techniques and end the world's protein shortage.

Cannabis  seeds contain all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy human life.

The seeds can be eaten raw, ground into a meal, sprouted, made into  Cannabis seeds milk (akin to soy milk), prepared as tea, and used in baking. Products range from cereals to frozen waffles,  Cannabis seeds tofu to nut butters.

A few companies produce value added  Cannabis seeds items that include the seed oils, whole  Cannabis seeds grain (which is sterilized by law), hulled Cannabis seeds (marijuans seeds without the mineral rich outer shell),  Cannabis seeds flour,  Cannabis seeds cake (a by-product of pressing the Cannabis seeds for oil) and  Cannabis seeds protein powder. Cannabis seeds are also used in some organic cereals, for non-dairy milk, somewhat similar to soy and nut milks, and for non-dairy  Cannabis seeds "ice cream."

The market potential for  Cannabis seeds as a food ingredient is unknown. However, it probably will remain a small market, like those for sesame and poppy seeds."

Sativex Marketed to Treat Spasticity Associated with Multiple Sclerosis

PORTON DOWN, England, June 21, 2010 - GW Pharmaceuticals plc today announces the UK launchof Sativex(R), its Oromucosal Spray for the treatment of spasticity due toMultiple Sclerosis (MS). Sativex(R) is the world's first prescriptionCannabis medicine and the UK is the first country in the world to grant a
full regulatory authorization for the product.

Sativex(R) contains two cannabinoids or active ingredients THC(delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol)
and CBD (cannabidiol). It is the first cannabinoid medicine derived from whole plant extracts from the Cannabissativa plant.

Sativex(R), available as a prescription only medicine, was

developed by GW in specific response to calls from people with MS for a prescription Cannabis-based medicine. Today's launch means that MS patients suffering the spasms and cramping associated with spasticity have access to anew treatment option which has been shown to improve their symptoms where current treatments have failed.

Sativex(R) is manufactured by GW under Home Office licence at an undisclosed location in the UK. The medicine is being marketed in the UK
by GW's UK licensee, Bayer Schering Pharma.

Dr Geoffrey Guy, GW's Chairman, said: "The approval and launchof Sativex(R) in the UK is the world's first full approval of a Cannabis-derived prescription medicine and the product of eleven year'sresearch by GW into the cannabinoid system. GW was founded with the primary
goal of developing a medicine to address the unmet needs of people with MS
and today's launch of Sativex(R) represents a welcome advance in MS symptom
treatment. This is also an historic moment for GW and marks the beginning of
the company's transition from late stage development company to a commercial
pharmaceutical business. Today's news validates our cannabinoid technology
platform and enables us to progress the development of our pipeline across a
range of therapeutic areas with increased confidence."

Outside the UK, Sativex is expected to be approved in Spain
shortly. Further submissions will be made in additional European countries
during the second half of 2010 under the mutual recognition procedure.
Almirall S.A. will market Sativex in Europe

An even bigger market could be opened up if GW wins an approval to use Sativex to treat cancer pain. Analysts say that a European approval for MS on top of the Canadian market would generate about 121 million pounds in annual sales while a cancer approval on the continent would be worth close to $500 million a year in sales.

GW has focused on the cancer pain indication for its application to the FDA. In March the developer announced positive Phase IIb cancer pain data with its U.S. partner Otsuka. Researchers are planning a Phase III trial for cancer pain.

The ownership and sale of Cannabis seeds is legal in  countries such as the UK, The Netherlands, indeed most European countries, it is however illegal to germinate Cannabis seeds in any of them.
